Avoiding Morning Breath

Halitosis affects nearly everybody. While it is gauged that up to one third of the populace gets chronic bad breath issues during the day, the scandalous fact about morning breath is that almost no one escapes from it, with it affecting almost the whole population.

Oddly enough, morning breath is actually an unsuitable name for the condition; it was most likely named a little too hastily before further research was done. Morning breath is triggered as a result of the act of you sleeping, and has nothing to do with the time of the day.

Bad breath is caused by certain sulfur inducing bacteria in the mouth. Our own saliva actually goes a long way towards cleansing our mouth of the bacteria that cause bad breath, and this function is greatly reduced while you sleep so you do not choke on your own spit. That’s not a very pretty image, is it?

You don’t need someone to tell you if you have morning breath; you can usually quite literally taste the imbalance in your mouth, and can tell that your breath doesn’t smell too good. You may be embarrassed even as you read this, but remember — morning breath is something that nearly everyone suffers from, so don’t beat yourself up over it!

Want to hear something great? If you get rid of your morning breath, you’ll also get rid of other problems that are commonly associated with it, such as a sour or metallic taste when you wake up.

I’m sure by now you’ve had enough theory, so let’s talk about something that you can actually use and put into practice. First, let me remind you that saliva has a positive effect on your breath. Do you know why? It’s because saliva is a major carrier of oxygen, which is a natural enemy of the bacteria that give you bad breath. To get rid of the bad breath in the morning, you will have to introduce extra oxygen into your mouth before bed.

The easiest way to supply your mouth with a healthy dose of oxygen is to do a rinse and gargle with hydrogen peroxide and salt water before bed. This will do a good job at creating an inhabitable environment for the evil bacteria that cause bad breath. There are also a few commercial products that will get the job done.

Most people seem to think that morning breath is just a “normal part of life” and that you should just “deal with it.” But the cure is fast, simple, and works in 30 seconds a day. That makes morning breath not worth living with, in my opinion.

Here is some additional information about bad breath in the morning, for those who want it: Cure morning Breath. It may be that you suffer from general halitosis, in which case this website has all the information on cures that you will need: Cure for Bad Breath.
