Tonsil stones, also known as tonsilloliths, are small, irregular shaped, white balls that often get trapped in the back of your throat. Because they consist of a combination of mucus and bacteria, they are often very foul-smelling. These globs often get trapped in the small pockets that appear on the tonsils and can actually be the reason that one has bad breath.

There are many types of tonsil stones treatment. Tonsil stones can be very irritating and the larger in size the more irritating. Very small tonsil stones can go unnoticed for quite some time. The size of tonsil stones can be as large as a pea. It is thought that tonsil stones are linked to bad breath. Tonsil stones seem to be composed of sulfur compounds that cause bad breath.
It is possible to have your tonsil stones diagnosed from an X-ray or CT scan. If you experience any of the following symptoms then you may have tonsil stones: throat closing, throat tightening, metallic taste in mouth, coughing fits, choking and feeling like there is something stuck on your tonsils or the back of your throat.

There are many tonsil stone remedies that do not actually work. Many people just give up finding a treatment and will turn to have their tonsils removed. However having a tonsillectomy will only stop the stones forming on your tonsils, it will not prevent you from coughing up or swallowing the sticky balls in the future.
There are some people who have had their tonsils removed and still complain about these whitish yellowish balls appearing at the back of their throat.
To produce your own tonsil stone treatment is easy – simply gargle with salt and water. This solution will help keep the mouth clean preventing bacteria growth.

People who notice that they have white spots on tonsils when they look in the mirror tend to become extremely scared because they do not understand what is going on. Well if you are dealing with this problem then chances are you have already made an appointment with your family doctor hoping that they will be able to tell you what is going on.
Those white spots on tonsils are the beginning signs of tonsil stones. I don’t know anyone who ever wants to suffer from tonsillitis; however more people suffer from this problem than we tend to believe. Medical research has been conducted on this problem however no one knows who is going to wake up with this condition.

That is one of the mysteries of our human condition. The simple fact is that there is no way of predicting who will and who will not develop tonsil stones with a hundred percent accuracy. There are people who have awful dental hygiene and who never take care of their bodies never end up with the stones. At the same time, there are people who brush, floss, and use mouth wash religiously, and also live very healthy lifestyles and still develop tonsilloliths.
